Relationships 5 Workplace Believers
• As believers, we must build proper relationships in the workplace to represent ourselves well and bring glory to God.
• Everything we do should be for the glory of God, including our work.
• 1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (NIV)
• We should enter the workplace with a positive attitude, leaving personal issues at the door and dealing with each task and person with grace and love.
• We should work with all our heart as if we are working for the Lord, not for human masters.
• Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (NIV)
• We should establish a routine for going into the workplace that includes seeking God's direction and inspiration, acknowledging Him in all things, and talking to Him throughout the day.
• We should show love to our co-workers by treating them with kindness, extending grace, and providing support when needed.
• Matthew 22:37-39 "Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself." (NIV)
• We should remember that we can do nothing without God, and we should seek His wisdom and guidance to solve problems and make decisions.
• We are the branches and Jesus is the vine, and we can bear much fruit only if we remain in Him.
• John 15:5 "I am the vine you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (NIV)
• We should always aim to do our work with excellence, acknowledging that we represent the kingdom of God in all that we do.
• Matthew 20:26-28 (NIV) reads: "Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
• As believers, we must remember that our assignment is to serve, regardless of our job titles or positions.
• We should look for ways to serve our coworkers by thinking of their needs more and our own less, such as providing help with projects, offering to buy a cup of coffee, or being a listening ear.
• It's important to be considerate of our coworkers and take the time to genuinely ask how they're doing.
• We should let our light shine before others by doing good deeds and glorifying God.
• Following God's example, we should take a full day each week for Sabbath rest, a time to focus on God and allow Him to refresh us.
• We must establish boundaries and set work hours to avoid overworking ourselves and potentially damaging our mental and physical health.
• We should remember that God has assigned us a task and we must get it done, regardless of any conflicts or controversies that come our way.
• Our choices regarding where we live, who we marry, and where we work should be made with wisdom and consideration for whether they bring us joy and a return on our investment.
• We should always remember that we are there to serve and that serving with good intention, even if it is not received well, will be rewarded by God in due time.
